School of Zines & Studio Kinaesthetic are proud to present Zines & Comics with Annie. Learn to use any style of art to tell any kind of story and have your work published in a comics anthology!

This creative workshop for adults will be facilitated by Annie - a storyteller, creative director, workshop facilitator and artist based in Western Sydney. They run Studio Kinaesthetic, Takeon Publishing and Budlife Magazine.

Zines & Comics with Annie will run over 2 Saturdays, 1st March and 8th March, 10am to 1pm, at the Wolfbound Books studio at the Arts & Cultural Exchange in Parramatta. Limited spots available so book now to save your seat!

Workshop fee: $40* per person (2 sessions)

*includes:

  • Hands-on workshop over 2 Saturdays (1 and 8 March) facilitated by Annie, hosted by School of Zines and Wolfbound Books.

  • FREE copy of the workshop’s creative outcome: a comics anthology, professionally printed and bound.

  • School of Zines badge (exclusive to workshop participants)

  • Zine-making templates and free samples

  • In-person support from the facilitators: Annie (Studio Kinaesthetic) and Aphrodite (School of Zines)

  • In-house art supplies - Paper, pens, markers, ruler, etc. (or BYO)

  • Access to binding materials (cutting mat, stapler, manual guillotine/trimmer, etc)

  • Access to a scanner; B&W photocopier & printer (limited to 2 copies per person)

  • Access to the Wolfbound Books & School of Zines Library for inspiration

*School of Zines is a volunteer-run self-funded initiative & a labour of love. Workshop fees allow us to hire the space and provide materials. If price is a barrier, don’t hesitate to reach out so we can make our workshop accessible for you.

SESSION 1: Saturday, 1 March at the Wolfbound Books studio

To create space for cultural exchange and connection, our workshop is setup as an informal gathering around a communal table. Sharing of materials, skills, ideas, stories, and language is encouraged.

Whether you’re a lone wolf who prefers to work at your own pace or a social butterfly who thrives on collaboration, all workshop participants will have equal access to in-person support, creative resources and inspiration to help you self-publish your zine/s.

Workshop Outcome:

Each student receives a FREE COPY of the workshop’s creative outcome - a comics anthology professionally printed and bound. The comics will be available for collection and sale at the Wolfbound Books Open Day on March 15, 2025. Remaining stock will be split between Wolfbound Books and Takeon Publishing.


School Rules:

  • Please BOOK YOUR SPOT prior to attending the workshop. No walk ins!

  • You must be 18 years and older to register as some of the zines used or created in our workshops deal with mature content. Age 16 and 17 can attend, only if accompanied by an adult guardian.

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before the workshop starts so the facilitator can check you in. Seats are assigned on a first come first served basis.

  • School of Zines is a safe, welcoming and inclusive space. We ask all workshop participants to treat each other, the facilitators and venue staff, with kindness and respect. Offensive language or aggressive behaviour are NOT acceptable.

  • Arts & Cultural Exchange is a community hub and event venue. Please be mindful and respectful of other organisations, visitors and members of the public using the space.

  • We take photos and videos during the workshop and we use this content to promote our work on our website and social media. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let the facilitator know.

  • If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and look after yourself but give us at least 24 hours notice so we can offer your seat to people on our waitlist.
